Codes for everyday use.
Codes for everyday use. Well this was just a brief idea I wanted to post on how to transmit number sequences in a basic code that everyone could use/decode. Why use a code if it is this easy to break you may ask? For the same reason you buy padlocks, to keep the honest folks out. Look, if someone is really determined to break your code, chances are that they will. This code is simply to prevent casual glances from providing anyone with your personal information. It's the old phone pad code which EVERYONE knows. If you don't, grab a phone and look at the 'number pad'. For numbers 2-9 there are letters that correspond to each digit (1 & 0 do not have letters, more on this later). Thus we have the following number/letter chart: #2 - ABC #3 - DEF #4 - GHI #5 - JKL #6 - MNO #7 - PQRS #8 - TUV #9 - WXYZ This we will simplify down to the first of the three letters, so: #2 - A #3 - D #4 - G #5 - J #6 - M #7 - P #8 - T #9 - W Don't worry, you won't have to memorize all of this since there's always a phone lying nearby to help decipher the code! ABOUT 1 & 0: Simply use them where required amidst the capital lettering. Once done, you will have a mix of letters and numbers that appear quite useless to anyone but yourself, and your recipient. I use 1's and 0's in the following examples so you may see what I am saying. A FEW EXAMPLES: Let's say you had the six number sequence 906187 that needed to be encoded. By using the simplified second chart above to convert each number to a letter (remembering to insert the 1's and 0's), the number becomes the following: 906187 = W0M1TP Another example would be for the nine digit hyphenated number: 77963-4812 = PPWMD-GT1A. But what if your sequence included letters already (tracking number for instance)? I simply put the letters in lower case to designate that they in fact stand for themselves, and not as a substitution for numbers. 1Z23B24752XX1 = 1zADbAGPJAxx1 ------------------- Again, this "code" is older than the hills, but for prying eyes it can be just what the doctor ordered. Hope this helps! peace Check out more at my group: The Fantasy Nook. |
