Here comes the flood, git inta that darn ark ...

The next installment from a book I've been reading "Olde Charlie Farquharson's Testament" - Parry Sound Version

The next chapter

"Time" sed Gawd, "You and the good brothers and yer inlaws and all thet livestock, inside. By the by, better make it seven of a kind, sept for the ones what don't clean themselves, jist let two of them in, no sense making more work fer yerselves. And you kin skip the fish, with what's coming they kin take care of themselfs. As fer yer fouls of the air, they kin come in sevens too" (It don't reecord what Noah actually sed to all this, but henhouses is gritty work)

"Once in, I'll turn on the shower. I figger on forty days, incloodin the nites. That should put us over the top"

Noah jist did as he was told. He was six hunert yeers old, and he knew ejuff to come in outa the rain. And the little woe-man and the sons and ther little woe-mans climbed in behind. Folleyed close behind by all them creepin beests and fouls, both yer cleans and yer dirtys.

They hadda line-up 2 by 2, a boy and a gerl frum eech speeshies (I think they fergot bout the sevenses by this time). And it come to pass, water after seven days.

That was Febyouary 17th, accordin to Noah. That'd be the day yer fountings of the deep broke up and the winders of hevven opened with one big splash. It kep up steddy fer close on to six weeks.

That ark floated, thank Gawd. Everythin else went under. Even yer mountings.

As fur as you could see there was water, with bubbles comin up fer a short time. Everybuddy that was left offa the ark got a nosefull and quit. Noah and his bunch was left high and dry.

This went on til July 16. That's a hunert and fifty daze.

Gawd didn't ferget yer arkers. He made a big wind pass over the waters fer to asswage them. He stopped up yet fountings of the deep, and slammed shut the winders of hevven. This cut yer water off.

Lotsa drane-edge fer quite a wile. Dunno where it went. Mebby he made the erth round to take care of all that run-off.

The mountings showed up first and that's where yer ark come to a full stop, top o Mount Arrer-root. Frum then on it was all downhill, but it took ten months fer to disembArk.

Noah was reddy to step out soon's the rain stopped. First thing he dun was open a winder, and glad to do it. He took one of them foul offa ther nest and set it outside. This was one of yer ravins. Fool thing flapped off and never come back.

"Nevermore" thot Noah. He sent off a hoaming pidgin insted (in them daze, pidgins was called yer doves). That dove musta wondered where yer ravin went, becuz there weren't no place to set a dry foot. Noah took her in, wiped her feet, set her out agin a week later. This time she never come empty-footed. It was way after dark but in she come, a olive leef in her beek. Noah figgered somethin was stickin up above yer water-line.

Week later he shove yer dove out agin. This time she never come back. Probly met another dove.

Things was still gummy and gooey. She warn't dry enuff to step out til Feb 27th, morn a yeer since they had all incarserrated therselves.

Finally, gawd sed, "time to rise and shine. Git yer wife and the 3 sons and go forth. Tell every creepy thing the ground is dry, it's time to multiply." They cleared the ark in no time.

Gawd didn't feel like cursing any more. Man was made in his image, but frum now on, he wasn't expecting too much frum him.

He put back all the weather too, yer drys and yer lows yer heet and yer cold so man could be in seesun agin.
