Why so many gays and lesbians?

Hi everyone,

In am currently single and, in my quest to find a good match, I realized that many people are turning gay or lesbian and this got me wondering:

1. Has it always been this way and only now with social media this is becoming more obvious?

2. Is this something new, why? Are men not meeting women standards, and vice-et-versa?

3. Is it the need for trying new things in life?

Please help me out.
