Another return to self

Another return to self

Must I return again to the inward peace I know?
That core of strength, deep as oaken roots, resides within the birds’ wing, a sweet note, and, for a moment, it was in another human being.

Ever time I return it seems harder. It is a good thing I have had lots of practice. I once wrote:
The airborne, the "soarers"; their flights seem to be touching mine.
The dream capturers, the raptors of life; listening, pausing to match patterns.
Minds locked in momentary shared time, concentrated symmetry.
The skies offer a limitless page, a covey of companions.

Change my wind.
Ease past on the slow hot winds.
Dip and soar; follow your pattern/play.
Pass me, adding current to my zephyr. (723/93)

Such glory I did feel, such blinding white light joy! I was lead back to softness a time of little things, sweet resolve, musical and otherwise. The light moments of the zephyr’s flight left a stark contrast to the dark moments, those moments when I ached for but a word. The pattern of window blinds open to the moon light created an overlay of strips- one dark or light, a quintessential contrast. The pattern fell upon his skin. A living Mapplethorpe photograph lay before me. Perhaps it was a sign of the dark and light side of true passion, the energy you create inside me I thought and laughed and called you zebra man.

Zebra man, are you a zephry of good? You did help me fly again.
“The yearning,” I said, “makes your reutrn to your even more full of loving.”

May it be so with you.

when i look at the date on your piece, I'm surprised there has been no comments.your writing creates ambivalence in me. i hate it because it is not easy to understand, and then i love it because it forces me to weigh each word and there relationship to each other.i like it.it is love described yet another, and unique , way.i wonder how much you write? do you write every day? are you published? just a reflection, your pictures show a fun playful person. i like that, jim
