Mis-Naming My Partner

I am Cis-Girl, my partner is Tgirl. We have been together for 18 wonderful years. 3 years now I have known my partner as a tgirl. This last December she decided to come out of the closet and live her life as she sees it.

A name change, then a gender designation change. Then we announced it all at work, and to family.

My family total open arms. Using name and gender no problem. Welcomed her and said they are happy she is free.

Her family, nope. Her mom comes around and uses my partner's dead name. Yesterday I gently used my partner's femme nickname when talking about our new kitten meowing at the door because she should have been home soon. But 30 seconds later my mother-in-law mis-named my partner again. MIL left before my partner got home.

I told my partner what happened. She just told me to out right correct her by asking who she was talking about. This is what tgirl does at work when people mis-name her.

Sorry mother-in-law if you can't accept your 's name and gender change, you no longer have to visit.

 Well we cut out her father because we are damn sure he wont accept her, and be an asshole. The mother keeps calling her by her dead name, hasn't really acknowledged that my partner is niw a female. My family welcomed with open arms, our children, are her biggest supporters, sometimes more than I am.

I fully accept her and all the changes she is making. Only reason I have been upset is from sexual intercourse being less often. But I have a dildo for that. LOL

 I think they do this from a place of wanting to exercise ownership. You are right to stand up to it.
